Before I get too in detail with this review, I wanted to make a disclaimer: I am very picky when it comes to pizza. Don’t know why, but I hold very high standards when it comes to cheesy goodness and a savory, crisp thin crust. With that being said, I committed myself to only one specific pizzeria here in San Francisco ever since moving here, until I found myself at Patxi’s, now I’m questioning why I had been missing out on this for so long. Not only was the waitress I had extremely friendly and sweet, but my food came in a timely manner, despite their busy environment. I read heaps and heaps of reviews on their Margherita pizza, so I ended up ordering that and have no regrets! Their Margherita pizza partnered with their thin crust is a perfect combination for any date night, family night, or if you’re like me then a “me reading a good ol’ book by a nice window with some Sam Smith playing in my earphones” date. As I was enjoying a pizza of my own, it was hard to not notice the family beside me, laughing and enjoying each other’s company over a pepperoni pizza, or the pair of business men next to me, talking about potential deals while sharing a deep dish Barbecue Chicken pizza. This just goes to show that Patxi’s is a perfect place for any and everyone – especially with its convenient location as well! —Jackie Lee, Administrator

If you are looking for a mellow place to eat, I would suggest checking out La Boulangerie. Offering a variety of pastries, sandwiches, soups and beverages, you will experience a little taste of France in every bite. Saharla (right) and I (left) enjoyed the homey feeling of the restaurant and had fun sitting by the window to people watch while we ate one of their most favorite dishes, La Boulangerie club with their warm and creamy soup du jour. They also offer a variety of refreshing house made bottled teas. All that’s left to say is Bon Appetit! —Danielle Smith, Board Administrator

DragonEats brings you a taste of Vietnam.

Located on the edge of Hayes Valley, this fast service brings you the experience of traditional Vietnam without having to travel the 7,574 mile distance. It is a small intimate setting that provides tasty and filling banh mi.

I visited DragonEats for the very first time last week and had an amazing experience. For someone who has lived in San Francisco for three years and is barely feeling comfortable enough to order Chinese take out on her own, DragonEats Vietnamese was a hesitant food choice. Still, I was curious and eager to go outside of my comfort zone for once. I ordered the fresh bowl of roasted pork and instantly fell in love. Its rice noodles and roasted peanuts captivated my senses and had me wanting more. With fresh bowls and sandwiches starting as low as $6.50, you can’t go wrong. In these parts of town, I often spend a minimum of $10 for a sandwich alone and in the end, I am left neither full nor happy with my sandwich. With DragonEats, however, it’s simple food style is infused bold flavor that left me wanting more.

As I slurped my rice noodles and read my favorite book in the nook of the restaurant, I couldn’t help but feel incredibly guilty for overlooking this tiny hideaway. DragonEats will definitely be seeing me soon! —Janelle Nunez, Marketing Associate

If you have a sweet tooth like me and Saharla (pictured), you should check out Smitten Ice Cream. Their Cookie Dough with Pretzels and Chocolate Chips will leave you dancing in the middle of the ice cream parlor because it is so delicious! Saharla and I watched with amazement as the “Brrrristas” poured fresh ice cream base into their liquid nitrogen machine and froze the ice cream right before our eyes. The establishment takes pride in their product as the ingredients include local and wholesome California milk, butter, cream, cane sugar, a dash of salt and a dab of lemon juice. They are also conscious of our vegan brothers and sisters as they have a Peanut Butter Banana flavored ice cream. Hurry in for a sweet treat before Saharla and I eat up all the ice cream! —Danielle Smith, Board Administrator
