We welcome actors of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. We value artists who are passionate, creative, and open to take direction. We hold auditions several times throughout the year with our main general auditions occurring in the summer. Our general auditions for the 2015-16 season was on June 20 and 22, 2015. Cinderella Youth Auditions

African-American Shakespeare Company is holding Youth Auditions for our 2015 production of CINDERELLA!

  • Female (age 4 – 8), Young Cinderella (possibly dance)
    Younger version of Cinderella after mother has just died. Young Cinderella seeks comfort from her father and they share a special dance together.
  • Female (age 8 – 13), Granddaughters
    Two young sisters who are consistently fighting with each other.
  • Male (age 8 – 15), Page
    Precocious, smart, and witty male child that thinks on his feet. He works at the Palace, and looks up the Prince, but has a habit of telling the truth at the wrong time.

Auditions: Saturday, September 12th from 12pm to 3pm
Callbacks: Monday, September 14th from 6pm to 8:30pm

Audition Format & Duration
Group auditions; time slots 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, or 3pm. Be prepared to stay for one hour

How to Dress
Auditions will include a physical group warm-up and exercise. Please dress your child in comfortable clothing appropriate to move.

What to prepare
If your child has a monologue we would love to see it. Another option is for your child to tell a story from a fairytale.

Song (optional)
If your child sings, please have them prepare a short section of a song (a cappella).

How we evaluate
We are seeking for the youths to be creative, open, take direction, and the ability to
project vocally.
