ACTive Engagement Series

"ACTive Engagement Series" is designed to enhance your cultural experience and to develop relationships with the general public by offering free public events in conjunction with our normal production program schedule.   The program is designed to be a 20-minutes entertainment and educational opportunity providing the participants to have a deeper connection to the work performed by African-American Shakespeare Company.   

The engagement series is scheduled for the following dates (topic title may be subjected to change, so please check our website for any updates):              
 
Crowns and Tiaras
Cinderella – Sunday, December 11th at 2pm 
Tiara and crown making session.  Create your own personal crown or tiara and learn the history and traditions of royalty in different countries.  With glitter, glue, and a few different color swatches make the crown or tiara that represents you.  A fun way to explore and dive into the world of the monarchs with your youngster, girlfriends, or to let your woman know who is the king of the castle (using this last statement to your partner waives your right to claim any monetary damage if you are tossed out of “your castle” on your ears).                

Durand Garcia
Julius Caesar - Sunday, March 18th at 2pm 
Stage Combat Fight Director, Durand Garcia, will demonstrate the various weapons used in the show. See a sample fight and choreography and audience may volunteer to participate as well on the stage.       

Xtigone –Sunday, April 29th at 2pm
Behind the mask. Ancient Greek drama often created masks for their performance presentations and we will show you how a mask is created and what might lie behind the mask. This workshop is an exploration to demonstrate who you represent on the outside and what you keep hidden on the inside. A community building workshop opportunity to share with your family, friend, community in getting to know each other; and learning what makes
